Microlytics Dictionaries

Each SPL is filenamed in the format:
   "lsDICT.SPL"
where "l" is Language: D=Deutsch, E=Español, F=Français, I=Italiano.
where "s" is Source: N=NotaBene for DOS, X=XyWrite.
Plus English UKDICT (British) and USDICT (American), identical in both N and X distributions.
Together with a bonus personal SPL file, LATIN.SPL.
Each file (except LATIN.SPL) must be renamed DICT.SPL during use.

PCLex Dictionaries

  • DBCS=Double-Byte Character Set
  • Most PCLex DICtionaries have very good, integrated thesauruses, although these are not presently accessible in NBWin (the engine is hard-coded to read only the American USENG.THS). XyWrite IV can access both spelling and thesaurus functions.
  • Not all dictionaries are tested — in particular, languages that do not use CodePage 850 (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Greek, etc.).
