XyWrite Year 2000 Patches(Text is - for the most part - as originally posted on the TTG bbs.) The Technology Group has resolved a minor Year 2000 related anomaly: PROBLEM: Any file created or saved in XyWrite 4 DOS or XyWrite for Windows after 12:00 am, 2000, will display an incorrect date stamp in a XyWrite directory produced with the DIR or DIRL commands. The integrity of any such file is not in question. This is simply a directory listing anomaly. The files listed below provide an update of the main program file(s). They have been set up to provide the software update of XyWrite 4 for DOS and XyWrite for Windows running under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95/98 platforms. We suggest that you backup to a safe location the file(s) which will be replaced. These are self-extracting executable files which will deliver the enclosed program files to a location of your choice. When you click on the link, you will be presented with the File Download dialog box. You have two choices: 1) Open this file from its current location, or 2) Save this file to disk. If you choose option 1, the file will be downloaded to your personal computer, at which point the WINZIP Self-Extractor program will allow you to specify the location where the updates program file(s) will be extracted. It will default to \WINDOWS\TEMP on your local hard drive. If you choose to save the file to your hard drive, please remember that this is a self-extracting executable, and must be executed from the Run option in Windows. The "Self-Extractor" program will allow you to specify a location on the hard drive in which to deposit the program file(s). NOTE: The self-extracting files "Win9x-XyDos.exe" and "Win9x-XyWin.exe" are considered safe for download to the Win9x platform. They have been signed with the corporate certificate of The Technology Group, Inc. The files "Win3xdos.exe" and "Win3xwin.exe", which are set up for the Win3x platform, are not signed. We therefore suggest that you do not open the file from this site, but instead save the file to your hard drive and run the executable after the download.
