APPLICATION NOTE #130 USING XYWRITE ON A TOSHIBA 3100 Rev. 01 RELATED FILES: T3100.KBD, T3100SUP.KBD The Toshiba 3100 is an AT-compatible, lap-top computer. It uses a gas plasma display that enhances its resolution but limits the display styles. This application note explains the adjustments you need to make so you can use XyWrite on the Toshiba 3100. SCREEN DISPLAY The Toshiba 3100 supports only four different display settings: normal, bold, reverse, and bold reverse. For the best screen display results with XyWrite, add the following settings to the top of your printer file, before the PT (Print Type) tables: MD UL=118 BW=1 KEYBOARD The Toshiba 3100 keyboard is compatible with the standard IBM keyboard except that the numeric lock is handled differently. You must load a special keyboard file, T3100.KBD, in order to have the numeric lock work properly with XyWrite. This keyboard file sets the numeric lock as a toggle with its own separate, remappable keyboard tables for numeric lock. In addition, this keyboard file allows you to use the SYS key on the Toshiba 3100 to execute the DOS command. XYQUEST has also developed a super keyboard file, T3100SUP.KBD, which implements most of the super keyboard functions described in Appendix D of the XyWrite III Plus Reference Guide. The exception is the Express Windows function, which is usually mapped to the CapsLock position of the numeric keypad. You can get copies of these keyboard files by calling our Technical Support Department. Copy the keyboard file you want to use onto your working disk and then modify STARTUP.INT to automatically load your keyboard file.
